Thru this Sunday, July 8th, Richard Chai is hosting a sample sale in the East Village. I was in the neighborhood earlier this week so I stopped in. The sale is set up in a small space on East 11th Street. It looks just like one of the boutiques on that street, except for the signage on the window that clearly states it’s a Sample Sale.
On offer are pieces from the designer’s women’s main and contemporary collection Richard Chai-LOVE. There are also a very limited selection of pieces for men’s. While I was looking at the offerings, there was one male customer going through the racks. I found flirty dresses ($130-$200) and blouses ($130), and separates (a blue short-sleeved denim styled blouse at $90), a sleeveless leather gray tunic for $130, a top shift dress for $125 and diffusion line blazers for $80. On a table were random cashmere sweaters for $125 and a long-sleeved cardigan for $70. If you’re in the neighborhood, check it out. But I wouldn’t make a special trip there…
