Ralph Lauren Home Sale is Picked Through

If you’re looking for furniture (or a regiment of Queen’s Guards), it might be worth checking out the Ralph Lauren Home Sale in Chelsea.  Yesterday, the large space at Metropolitan Pavilion North on 19th Street looked nearly cleaned out but they did have a few things left, such as bed frames, chairs and lighting.  I went looking for a floor lamp and found only a dozen or so left (unlike the last sale where they had tons).  None of the ones there really appealed to me.

Other lighting including a selection of table lamps (some were going for under $200).  There were chairs going for under $1000 and bed frames in the six figures (one that caught my eye made of wood and leather was going $4,000 down from $12,000).  In one corner, there was a mix of antique furniture and an odd sight: a regiment of Queen’s Guards (life-size) going for $1,200 each.  Not sure how you can put them to use. But there might be someone out there with some ideas.  Also on offer was a limited selection of leather frames ($35), room sprays ($10), cups and plates (starting at $10).  In the middle of the room was a box of large decorative throw pillows going for under $20.  Near the entrance is a section of vintage jewelry (such as silver bracelets for under $100) and clothing.

Like Ralph Lauren’s clothing and accessories sale, the employees are allowed first dibs.  One of the sales associates told me that they pretty much picked through many of the great deals on the first day (Friday) such as lush cashmere throws going for $75.  Sale organizers are slashing prices daily as the sale goes on… so if you see something you like, you should haggle – ask them if they can give you a better deal.
