The Malia Mills sample sale is taking place through this Friday in the Garment District. On offer are the brand’s colorful swimwear as well as ready-to-wear pieces. Fashionable Femme Jen checked out the sale yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon to find tons of overstock. Here’s her report:
Boxes of swimwear sorted by style and size crowd the Malia Mills showroom. At 60-75% off, tankinis can be had for $75, swim separates for $50 a piece and one-piece malliots for $100. Sizing ranges from 2 to 16 for malliots and bottoms while swim tops are available in 30AA to 40E. Sizes 6-10 and 36-38 seem to have the best selection today.
Styles in red, white, purple, blue and a brown + red pattern are most available. Items of note are the Paris top in black (orig. $180), the Vamp top in a black + white print (orig. $185) and the Juliette top in blue (orig. $155) for $50. For the bum, I see a flirty Love Knot bottom in quartz ($144), a sassy Stunner bottom in orange velvet and a simple red Pucker Showcase bottom, each for $50. For the more conservative, there is the strappy Dreamboat (orig. $355) in black, the ruched Damsel (orig. $335) in purple and the sexy Siren (orig. $365) in bright blue—each for $100.
RTW styles hang in an adjoining room. The color spread here is mainly black, brown, white and eggplant, with a couple surprises mixed in. I see mainly Malia Mills cover-up and dress styles with and a handful of Inhabit pieces. Malia Mills dresses are $100, silk dresses are $150 and blouses and pants are $75. All other designer goods are 60% off sticker price. Merchandise here is hanging on racks and separated by size in boxes and grocery bags. Some of the pieces available are the Maxine dress (orig. $385) for $100, a black polka dotted dress and a pair of black Harem pants for only $25! There is also a stack of red and gold Repetto flats and other miscellaneous shoes (sizing is mainly 37 to 40 with mostly 37-38s)—you’ll have to ask sales staff for details.
Nothing really stands out at the sale today, but that might just be the cool weather putting me in a fall mood. There is an abundance of merchandise in different cuts and hard-to find sizes. If you’re a fan of the brand or looking for simple or solid colored swimwear or cover-ups, head over to the garment district and check out the sale.
