Fans of Morgane Le Fay lined up this morning to get into the design house’s first day of the sample sale in Soho. The line wasn’t too long and they were all inside in a flash once the door opened. In the large space were racks filled with plenty of merchandise, including pieces from the bridal collection.
Most of the shoppers were obviously familiar with the brand as they quickly surveyed the racks, carrying armfuls of pieces as they walked along the aisles. Many of them seemed to be looking for the label’s feminine airy pieces. They weren’t disappointed as there were lots of signature items to be had. Near the door were silk tanks ($10) and T-shirts ($20). Further inside, were lots of current season goods – winter coats (such as a black wool knee-length asymmetric front was tagged at $495, orig. $1,650), black wool blazers for $260, grey knit wool dresses trimmed with silk crepe fabric for $228.
The racks are organized by color and styles are mixed in. There were pieces in a variety of colors from the primaries (black, white, navy and red) to muted olive, blush and more. Going through the various pieces, I spotted a number of samples which included a light-weight cotton dress in black for $100, black and grey light-weight wool pants for $150, a navy wool skirt for $126, cotton knit tops for under $50 and more.
The bridal pieces are gathered in one section of the room where there were some incredible deals on actual samples such as a long ivory spaghetti strap gown for $100, an ivory silk organza flowing gown for $75, a long sleeved ivory silk crepe short dress for $100. Hanging among the gowns on this rack were simple white cotton dresses for $50 and white linen dresses for $200. Depending on how much they have left on the last day, we’re told that they might reduce prices further.
