Fashion-forward retailer, Intermix, is making its winter sale more attractive by offering an extra 50-percent off the sale price. But as fellow shopper, Laura, found out, the appalling service is killing the shopping experience. Here’s what she had to say about her experience at the Madison Avenue boutique:
When I got word Intermix was marking down their sale items another 50% off the sale price, I headed over to the uptown outpost (1003 Madison at 77th Street) to check out what designer goods they had on sale. The prices were excellent but my experience was mauled by some pretty atrocious customer service.
No greeting, nothing after walking into the store and it only got worse from there. The sales people chatted among themselves and seemed put-out when I asked for sizes. When I asked about further discounts and how much various items cost the sales girl told me simply “I don’t know” which put me in the awkward position of having to ask “ok well can we figure it out.”
I love Intermix at much as the next girl. They have a fabulous selection of designer merchandise BUT a lot of it can be purchased at a bunch of other stores in NYC. I get it they probably work on commission and are looking for a bigger sale but its just not excusable for shoppers to be treated like intruders.
With that being said there is some good stuff on sale including theory pants marked down to $75, pretty equipment blouses (only in m,l) for $90, Chloe pants for $200 and a gorgeous silver sweater from Joseph for $114. There were Bottega flats and a few accessories in the 50% off section as well.

Considering the poor treatment Laura got from the Madison Avenue staff, you might want to skip that store and go to another one in New York City. However, the Yelp reviews of the Flatiron location is equally bad.

That’s really funny because I think that the people working in intermix soho have by far the worst service of any store I’ve ever shopped at (makes me not want to buy anything).I was relatively impressed by the service at madison av when I went there a few weeks ago.
