Due to Hurricane Irene, the warehouse sale at Bird’s boutique in Park Slope, Brooklyn is closed this weekend. However, they’ve extended the sale through this Wednesday. For all of you who wanted to stop in this weekend… it’s worth checking out.
I dropped by on Thursday evening and the scene was really chill – a lot calmer than the madness over at the Barneys Warehouse Sale in Chelsea. Lots of great labels at up to 75-percent off retail.

Here are some of the items that caught my eye: Maria Cornejo + Zero long black wool coat is now $359 (was $1,455); Maria Cornejo + Zero cashmere sweaters at $109 (was $450), a Maria Cornejo + Zero silk cotton blend cardigan is at $159 (was $395); a Maria Cornejo + Zero cashmere cardigan at $159 ($625); a rag & bone angora/cashmere pullover for $119 (was $495); a rag & bone floral button up shirt $99 (was $195); Rachel Comey silk top is $89 (was $365); Tsumori Chisato silk top $169 (was $435); Thakoon blouse is $179 (was $735); a Phillip Lim sequin black dress at $299 (was $850); Alexander Wang tees for $39 (was $84); James Perse sweatshirt for $39 (was $135) and a Yigal Azrouel fur vest $569 ($1,790).
The clothing selection was much better than footwear… only one or two pairs left of sandals, including Phillip Lim wedges $249 (was $625); Repetto ballet flats $69 (was $285); Dieppa Restrepo is $199 (was $285); Loeffler Randall Suno collab sandal at $109 (was $460). They did have a pretty good selection of Worishofer sandals for $29 (was $60) and tons of Rivieras sneakers for $29 (was $70).
Where/When: 316 Fifth Avenue, (b/w 2nd & 3rd), 718-768-5074. CALL TO MAKE SURE THEY ARE OPENED. Thru August 27th. (Noon to ?).

will there be any additional price discounts since it’s extended?
GC – As you know, they extended the sale because the hurricane forced them to close this weekend. But whether they offer further discounts depends on how much merchandise they have left at the end. If you’re in the neighborhood, it is worth checking out on the last day… if you do, let us know.
Made the mistake of going to what was supposed to be a private invite only Cynthia Steffe sample sale this week! the same 15 hoarders from long island showed up and pushed and shoved there way to front of line. Cs unable to control these crowds closed the doors on the rest of shoppers . The effect- thereby allowing 3 of the youngest of the boarders free reign of the sample sale for 20 minutes. By the time anyone else got in, these 3 hoarders had emptied 15 racks and piled the clothes in one gigantic pile. This is by far the worst run sample sale I have ever been to and which continues to disintegrate because of 15 women. Cynthia Steffe seems unwilling or incapable of controlling these people. These women walk all over the clothes and god forbid you go near the clothes ..they start screaMing at you in aNother language! Cynthia steffe wake up!
