Barneys End-of-Season Sale… now at up to 75% off

I received the alert today that the Barneys markdown is now up to 75-percent off on “select” fall/winter merchandise.  My question is:  on what?!  After work, I made my way over to the Madison Avenue store, just to see what actually was discounted and by how much?

I made a quick survey of women’s handbags where sale items were pretty much picked over. What I did spot were a handful of Lavins at 60-percent off.

I then, headed for the designer shoe department where a sales associate told me that most items were still at 60-percent off.  I looked through the racks to confirm what he said… after spending a few minutes, I couldn’t find any footwear at 75-percent off.  The good news is… there was still quite a bit of a selection (Christian Louboutin, Manolo Blahnik, Prada, Miu Miu, Jil Sander, Nicholas Kirkwood, Marc Jacobs and more).  That could only mean that whatever doesn’t sell here will likely be sent to the store’s warehouse sale in Chelsea next month.  I’m always hopeful whenever the Barneys Warehouse Sale comes around… The last few sales have been a bit of a disappointment.  We’ll see what the selection is like this time around.
