The Earnest Sewn sample sale is being held in a location right in the middle of the bustle and party atmosphere of the Meatpacking District. The sale can be found inside an airy space on Washington Street just south of The Standard Hotel. As I walked in yesterday, a French couple intent on finding a pair of jeans were going through boxes. The space wasn’t packed but busy enough with shoppers looking for deals on the normally pricey merchandise that offers great fit and fabrication.
The sale is fairly organized – women’s goods on one side and men’s on the other. The highly-sought after denim are separated by style and size. In the front of the room, you’ll find the label’s premium denim going for $75 (a tad bit more than last spring’s sale). Styles available include the following for women: Decca, Desra, Harla, Keaton and Zanzo. For men, I spotted the Ace, Hemingway, Fulton and Fulle.
Don’t miss the stuff at the back of the room where you’ll find some real bargains such as sample jeans for $50. Unlike the last sample sale, there was quite a selection (skinny, straight and boot cut) inside rows of boxes. Also on offer are sweaters for $60, jackets for $80, wovens at $40 and tees for $15. But the real draw here are the jeans… The sale goes through this Sunday. A sales associate tells us that they will be restocking but only the samples. All the styles for the premium denim are out but they may have more sizes to put out as the sale goes on. So if you don’t see your size, do ask. I noticed that the sales associates were very helpful and knowledgeable about the products. An important note about dressing rooms. There are two communal ones (one for the boys and another for the girls).
