Up the street from the YSL sale is a different kind of sale and altogether different scene. While many of us were in line waiting to get into Soiffer Haskin, Fashionable Femme Jen checked out the Club Monaco sample sale at Clothingline, which also opened to the public yesterday (Tuesday). Even with bargain prices (nothing over $65), Jen wasn’t impressed with the offerings:
Two words come to mind when describing the Club Monaco sample sale: HOT MESS. While the prices may be low, the overall selection is quite Blah. Sizes 4, 6 and Medium win out at this sale.
Tanks (lots of white ones), polos and tees are $10, shirts and blouses (lots of cream colored peasant tops) are $20 and all other sweatshirts and sweaters are $25. Blazers and denim jackets are $40, outerwear is $50, Cashmere sweaters are $50 and leather/suede is $65. Watch out for holes, faded colors and other deformities!!
For the bottom half, skirts and shorts can be had for $20, pants (lots of white cropped ones) are $25 and dresses are yours for $30. For the most part, small sizes are out of luck in this area. I see a rack of the same light blue and white halter dress and a velvet rhubarb cocktail dress—neither are anything special and both are only available in M or L sizes.
Accessories are plentiful, but going quick. Rings (lots of brass cocktail rings with a large clear gem in the center) are $5, Earrings and Bracelets (some cute bangles) are $10 and Necklaces (a couple cool chain necklaces) are $15. While affordably priced, a lot of the merchandise is rather cheap looking.
Deep tupperware accessory bins hold a mixture of items including socks, tights and ties for $5, scarves and hats for $10, haircalf belts for $25, regular belts for $5, canvas bags for $20, small leather bags or clutches for $30, and medium or large leather bags for $50. Highlights here are a small brown bucket bag for $20, a grey and cream knit shawl for $10 and a blue + green + cream scarf for $10 (orig. $95). Home accessories (I didn’t see any) are available at $5 for small and $10 for large.
Bottom line—good prices, but bland selection. This is a sale for size M ladies and Be prepared to dig!

Stay away from Clothing Line sales. Their stuff is almost always damaged goods.
I completely agree with everything written above. Jewelry not anything you’d covet, by the way. And yes—what IS it with Clothingline? Every sale I’ve been to there is horrible! This sale used to be great. Now it’s all damages and overpriced stuff you can — honestly - get cheaper in stores. I hate that I wait for an hour in line for that. The old CM sale was soooooooo good.
UGH! Just left with a suede skirt I was so excited about. I scanned the whole skirt… or so I thought… and there is a pen mark down the side.
Every single item I have ever gotten from the Club Monaco sale has been damaged to the point where it becomes unwearable soon.
I recommend skipping it.
Alexander Wang Sale finally !!!
Hey sally – Mizhattan just posted the sale coming up Nov 6-10th !!!
It’s been over a year since the last Alexander Wang sample sale.
Can’t wait – this one is always one of my favorites (although only 70% off)
KateM – Yes, I saw that she did! I’m planning on going… I’d love to hear what you find after you check out the sale. Let us know!
I know there’s someone who keeps posting this everywhere, but I will add to it: The Club Monaco in Queens has an extra 60% off their sale rack, which makes for stunningly cheap deals. And it’s on the R line. My new discovery!
hey Scarfie – where in queens is thia club monaco
thanks for the tip !
Apparently the Elmhurst Queens Mall, aka the Queens Mall? 1st Floor. I thought it was too good to be true, but Googled a bit and – yep! Check Yelp for Club Monaco Queens reviews. Has anyone been there?
Call the store first by the way – but that sale stuff is supposed to be PERPETUAL.
oh no, the queens secret is out now.
sale items @ club monaco queens has always been extra 50% off, but it seems like lately it’s been bumped to extra 60% off
