The Alice and Olivia sample sale goes through this Sunday, December 10th at 260 Fifth Avenue. Our contributor, Christina, checked out the deals yesterday, the first day of the sale. Here’s her report:

“I arrived at the sale around 5:30 p.m. and there was literally no one in line. I was shocked because a friend of mine who works across the street said the line was crazy during the day. I had another friend meet me there only fifteen minutes later though and she said the line stretched to the end of the block. I guess I narrowly missed the after work rush.

As always, the sale is well-organized by size, with the accessories to the right of the space and the samples and group dressing room in the back.

The clothing ranges from $39-$309, depending on the original price of each item. The better deals are definitely on the more expensive items, as the discount increases as the price goes up. My friend got an awesome leather dress for only $309 (originally $1300!). There is a fun “love yourself” pink leather jacket for only $289 from $1095! I spotted a few other jackets with writing on the back. Most of the sequin dresses I saw are still $289 (originally $995), but they are gorgeous if you have somewhere special to wear them.

I am usually a fan of the brand’s long dresses for black tie events, but didn’t see anything that caught my eye this time. I was primarily looking at size 4 though, which seemed to be the most picked over. There are definitely some fun shorter dresses in bold colors and prints for the holidays. There are a few standout skirts, but sadly, not a lot of sizes left.

In prior years I felt like the sample section was in pretty good shape, but this year a lot of the samples are damaged. Lots of snags and pilling. Not worth the digging, in my opinion. I saw a lot for $59 (price as marked).

There are some fun bold accessories near the checkout if you are looking for Christmas gifts. They range from $29 to $159. They have a pop art feel to them and, while cute, are not for everyone.

Unless you are looking for something specific and are afraid it will sell out, I suggest waiting until the end of sale for the additional discounts.” – Christina
