It was only the second day of the Hugo Boss sample sale and the merchandise was thinning and selection spotty. I managed to get out of work early so I thought I’d see what all the fuss was about. Plus, Larry Label Whore couldn’t make it to the sale yesterday so I thought I’d scope it out.
The label’s Chelsea showroom is always a great venue to have a sale with the tall ceilings and wide windows along one side, which gives a panoramic view of the river. When I got there, the space was still filled with plenty of product – on one side is the men’s stuff and on the other women’s. There’s definitely more for the gents here than the ladies. As I walked in, several men were walking out with bags, while others were inside still looking for bargains.
I came here to find something for The Mister and since Larry couldn’t stop by he wanted me to check out a few things as well. Unfortunately for Larry, they really didn’t have anything he was interested in. There were no more scarves (cashmere for $20), a couple of not-so-appealing men’s bags were left as were several uninspiring belts ($20). There were a couple of tables of men’s dress shoes (tie-ups, loafers, Oxfords) for $60 in size 9 or 10. Plus, a limited selection of sneakers and ankle boots ($75). The selection was very sparse for women’s shoes ($60). I spotted leather patent pumps in nude that were pretty scuffed as well as sling-backs in red and turquoise. There were also a couple of wedge sandals.

As for apparel, there was still quite a selection of men’s suits ($275), a small rack of dress shirts ($60), a long rack of men’s outerwear and sport coats ($175) and trousers along the back wall. Also plentiful were the polos ($30) available in an array of colors. As for women, there was a limited selection of dresses (knits for $60 and woven at $100), a few coats/jackets for $185. Along the windows was a rack of knitwear ($60), jerseys ($30) and trousers ($40). I walked out empty handed…
Where/When: Hugo Boss Showroom, 601 W. 26th St, Suite 845. Thru Thurs Oct 4th; Daily (9:30-5p).

Hi Sally, wow, everything is gone! Do you know if there are any size 37 shoes left yesterday? Did you pick up anything?
Thanks!
Hi Keiko – A lot of the good stuff is certainly gone… As for women’s shoes, they were mostly 37s. The photo I took of the leather patents are all 37s, plus there were a couple of wedge sandals for 37 ($60). I didn’t get anything. But I considered the sandals but the fit wasn’t fab… Are you going back today?
I’d like to but Sale ending at 5 pm is not ideal at all.
The shoes that are left look terrible plus I’ve gotten better prices at Bloomingdales and Macys. The only things worth it were the scarves and belts, but I just couldn’t make it. I’m curious to see the difference between this sale and the Soiffer Haskin one. I try to stay away from the Soiffer Haskin sales, which is why I haven’t gone to Loro Piana.
