A soft opening to the rag & bone sale on Wednesday. Thanks to a tip from the Choosy Beggar I went a day early instead of the official opening. Despite the quiet opening, the space at Chelsea Market was packed! By the evening, the sweater tables and racks looked as though they were ransacked.

This sale has a pretty good selection of current seasonal goods – one of the best offerings I’ve seen at an r&b sale. The merchandise is well organized: women’s on the main floor as you walk in and men’s downstairs. The sweaters ($150) and T-shirts ($40) are piled on tables in the main room. Hanging on racks were lots of pieces for the winter months ahead such as wool coats/outerwear ($350), jackets/blazers ($250) and wool hats & scarves ($65). Also on offer were pants ($125), jeans ($95), dresses ($195), boots and shoes ($195 and $350 for Italian made footwear) and so much more.

To give you an idea of styles, here’s a list of items I spotted: the Juno blouse with leather trim ($195); Magnum coat ($595); Barswood coat ($895); shearling Shoreditch jacket ($895); Crane dress with leather trim ($195); Highbury coat ($250); Maxi skirt ($195); Penland wool wrap ($125); Varsity jacket ($250) and the Ellington tote ($125). I didn’t spot a lot of handbags. They may have been picked over by the end of the day. The good news is they appeared to have more merchandise behind a curtain for restocking…
