Paul Smith End-of-Season Sale

Paul Smith kicked off its end-of-season sale yesterday at its sale outpost in Brooklyn  where you’ll find fall merchandise up to 70 percent off.  Last night, I decided to brave the cold and trek to Williamsburg to see if there were any deals to be had.

Many items were still pretty pricey despite the hefty discount. I was told by the sales staff that all the women’s items are 70 percent off, while not all men’s goods are marked down as low.  I spotted some colorful and quirky pieces: fun frocks for $300, wool sweaters tagged from under $150 and shoes going for under $200. Also on hand were dapper duds from the British designer, such as jackets and coats from $300 to $500, soft-leather loafers for $128 and wingtips under $150, dress and casual button-down shirts were all $109, wool sweaters for around $100 and wool scarves starting at $30.  There was also a selection of wallets and jewelry.  I was looking for a birthday gift for a friend but didn’t find anything worth buying.  A handful of shoppers were browsing while I was there.  They all left empty handed.  With all the other sales taking place at department stores and boutiques in Manhattan, I’m not sure this one is worth the trek.

Where/When: Paul Smith Outlet, 280 Grand St., b/w Havemayer and Roebling in Williamsburg.  Call for hours – 718-218-0020.  Starts Monday December 28th.

Sally – are they going to reduce prices any further?

Hi Jane – if the merchandise doesn’t move, it’s likely that they’ll offer further discounts. Last winter, a friend bought her boyfriend a great jacket for $50.

As much as I can understand right now, I think you’re right!
