As I mentioned in my earlier post, the wait to get inside the Jil Sander sample sale yesterday was interminable! If you were one of those who waited hours, you’d understand the frustration we all felt. I spoke to several guys in line who waited at least 3-hours. They were asking whether it was worth it. One person who waited longer than that was our in-house label whore, Larry. Here’s what he had to say about the whole thing:
I arrived at the sale around 11:15am thinking that with my invitation, I’ll be able to get right in…WRONG! They weren’t checking invites and so I proceeded to wait almost 5 hours!!! At one point the line hadn’t moved for an hour. I don’t understand why sales like these don’t take a page from H&M and have time limits as well as merchandise limits because waiting almost 5 hours really wasn’t worth it.
Once I got in there, almost all of the men’s stuff was gone. They had a couple of turtlenecks, some pants, blazers, and some quilted jackets. However, the biggest steal from the sale was two handbags (see photos below) I bought for my mom (I know, I know I’m a great son). They retailed for about $600 and $700, but I got them for $50 each!!
In the end, I did find a few things, including a short-sleeved burnt-orange sweater for $61 (originally $440), a quilted shirt/jacket $96 (was $640), and a heavy turtleneck sweater $76 (down from $560). I almost got a sweater vest, but realized I have the same exact one from Banana Republic for much cheaper so I didn’t need it.
All in all, if I had known I would be waiting almost 5 hours I wouldn’t have gone. Even though I bought a few things, I feel like it was a waste of valuable time.
