Looking Forward to Fall at the R.E.D Valentino Sale…

This week’s  R.E.D. Valentino sale started today where clothing for both men and women are marked down up to 90 percent off.  I found plenty of items for fall and winter, mostly R.E.D Valention but also some other European designers were mixed in.  Maybe it was because of the summer temperatures we’ve been experiencing lately but I really wasn’t in the mood to look at cold weather merchandise.  I just couldn’t bring myself to try on the See by Chloé black puffer jacket ($299) I spotted and liked.  There were other coats: a gray full-length wool R.E.D Valentino with a fur collar for $549, other black down jackets ($300), leather and suede coats & jackets ($500-$800).  Also on offer were wool sweaters for $199 and a Missoni wool shift dress for $299.  There was a table of handbags (Missoni $99-$129, D&G $19, Gianfranco Ferré $99 and Les Copain for $59) but none of the choices grabbed my attention. Also on sale were evening gowns by Badgley Mischka and other designers for $1800 and up.

If you’re ready for fall, you might want to check out the sale.  There appeared to be plenty of merchandise.  However, I wasn’t thrilled with the sale prices.  Valentino’s  “affordable” label wasn’t that affordable at this sale, especially when the choices were just so-so. Where/When: 49 West 38th St between Fifth and Sixth Aves, fourth floor. 8/18-19th (9am—6pm).
