It’s the last day of the Jil Sander sample sale so I thought I’d do a spot check. No line outside the Soho showroom this morning. But staffers got a late start, making the small group outside wait in the cold about 15 minutes before opening the doors. Not good considering it was freezing out. Any longer and the small crowd might have stormed the place.
Upstairs, it appears that staffers put out more merchandise, primarily apparel. When I got there, they were taking out knits from a box and restocking the middle table. The discount was the same in the morning: 85% off clothing and 80% off accessories, except for a couple of sorry looking handbags that went down to 90% off retail. By the early afternoon, staffers started marking down more items such as the Apres Ski sweaters (photo on the next page). Sale ends today at 6pm. We wonder if the sale price will go down even further…
