The Fred Perry sample sale kicks off this morning at the Avalon Group showroom in Chelsea. I stopped in this morning before the official opening of the sale… which always has so much stuff up for grabs for both him and her.
This time, there seemed to be even more merchandise (50-70 percent off retail), including signature polos, woven shirts, sweaters, outerwear, sneakers, shoes and bags. Good news for men, apparently there’s lots of overstock and that means a wide range of sizing for clothing. In the past, mediums was what was available. However, men’s shoes are available ONLY in 9 and 9 1/2. The size selection for women’s clothing is not as good — the pieces are mostly samples. That means, ONLY size 4 and 6. Women’s shoes are only available in size 6.
Here’s the price breakdown: Men & women polos are tagged at $30-$50; long-sleeved woven shirts (including button downs) are $50 to $100; short-sleeved range from $40 to $80; sweaters range in price from $60-$125; men’s sneakers are $40/boots and shoes are $250 (size 9 and 91/2), ALL women’s shoes are $20 and kids shirts are $30.
As for the collab pieces, there’s a limited selection (one rack) of Fred Perry by Raf Simons polos and shirts. Plus, Amy Winehouse’s collab pieces on offer. Also available are great chunky sweaters made in Scotland from DS Dundee ($125).
