I popped in this morning to the Diane von Furstenberg sample sale which opened to the public today. There was a line down to the next block before they opened the doors. When I got in, I headed straight for the sample racks where items are $50. I was not impressed – only two racks of samples and nothing appealed to me. The samples appeared to be picked over by the folks who went to yesterday’s “friends, family and fans” preview sale. I didn’t have much time to shop this morning but I quickly checked out the other merchandise at up to 75 percent off.
I snagged a photo of the price list (see below). Here’s the lowdown: wrap dresses are $150, coats $350, jackets $125, sweaters, tops and bottoms are going for $80 and tees are $40. As in previous DVF sample sales, there are racks and racks of goods, including the designer’s coveted wrap dresses. In the back, there are plenty of sweaters in boxes. I spotted a couple of dresses I liked and a sweater. The place was mobbed. The small spaces between the racks made it difficult to maneuver between other shoppers. In the end, I decided to stop by again later this week when they will likely drop the prices further and bring in more merchandise.
