Clothingline opened its doors a day early for the Tory Burch sale. The line outside the space on Monday evening stretched down West 36th Street. While the line was long, it did move quickly and we were all inside before we knew it.
As for the deals, there was plenty of spring/summer merchandise, including the designer’s signature tunics ($115) and dresses ($145) in bright colors – plain, sequined and embroidered. Also on offer are skirts ($75), pants ($85), tops ($85 and $95), blazers/coats ($195). I even spotted a few winter puffers! All the leather merch is $250. A navy cropped motorcycle-style jacket caught my eye. It also came in a caramel color in all sizes. The clothing is all organized by size on racks throughout the room.

In my opinion, the selection of footwear was not at all enticing. I wasn’t alone. I spoke with a few other shoppers who agreed. Don’t expect to find a wide selection of flats ($99). There were only several styles left in small sizes. I also spotted a few strappy heels and so-so wedges ($150), plus sneakers ($50). Too bad since many of the shoppers here tonight were clearly hoping to score on the shoes. I overheard a number of ladies voice their disappointment. Apparently, the sales organizers will be restocking throughout the week, but who knows what kind of footwear (if any) they’ll bring out.
Now onto the handbags… there were lots in all sorts of sizes on display as you walked into the space. Medium leather bags and totes were priced at around $225/$250, small cross-bodies were $150, quilted large totes were $175, small quilted messengers were $75 and canvas totes are $125. Sale runs through Saturday. I over heard a number of women saying they’d try their luck at the end of the week, hoping for further reductions.
Where/When: 261 W. 36th St (b/w 7th & 8th Aves), 2nd Floor. June 15 to 18, Wed-Fri (11-7p), Sat (11-4p).

Took a day off my self-imposed “shopping break” as I was getting out of hand with the sample sales. I haven’t been to one in months (except DVF where I only spent $75 last week, so proud of myself). I had to go to TB. Even stood on a very long line. Felt like a fool b/c I always laugh at people who stand on long lines like the folks at Shake Shake in Madison Square. Anyways, found some good stuff. The embellished tee is cheaper this time around. It’s usually $85.. they are now $65, got some cool looking khaki shorts. They are not daisy dukes but short (and classy) for $75 and my first TB dress!!! It looked very much like a DVF dress. I loved the print and the fit so I got it. This week is my week to be naughty as I will definately checkout the helmut lang/theory sale. I will try to behave though (sticking out tongue). Found out to the grapevine that Michael is clothingline’s owner. I always saw him like the annoying older brother (of another race) that I never had. Will try to be nicer to him now
Diva – you are too funny!
were the prices lowered or reduced toward the end of the sale?
Gita – If memory serves me right, the prices were lowered. Typically, Clothingline will slash prices toward the end of the sale. If you’re a fan, it’s worth going in the beginning and the last day.
