A Steamy First Day of the La Perla Sample Sale

La Perla Sample Sale

The first day of the the La Perla sample sale got off to a busy and hot start yesterday.  While it was already humid outside, it was even hotter inside the Flatiron space.  I went with a friend from L-A and she had to leave after half-an-hour.  They had fans going but the air conditioner didn’t appear to be working. Those who remained frantically went through the bins, grabbing what they liked.  And that was the thing to do – collect the items that caught your eye (in your size) and take your pile into a corner to make your decision.  There are no dressing rooms here so you’d better know your size.  As we all know, it’s final sale!

Just like previous La Perla sales, bras and undies are all organized by size (clearly marked) in bins. There is a range of sizing (32 to 38, A-D cups).  As for styles, there’s lots of lace and basic pieces.  Price lists are tacked on the walls throughout the space.  The La Perla & Black Label collections are the most pricey ($80 for bras, $50 for undies, $110 for babydolls, $130 for gowns silk robes, and PJ sets). If you don’t want to shell out that much for lingerie, the diffusion lines are more reasonable.  Malizia & Glamour bras are $50 (undies are $30, babydolls $80, and $90 for gowns, silk robes & PJs).  The Studio bras are $30 and undies are $20. If you look hard enough, you might find a really great deal. I snapped up a sexy Studio babydoll for $45 (was $138). It appeared to be a press sample.

Also on offer are swimwear ($100 for a one-piece, $90 for a two-piece).  There’s also accessories up for grabs such as garters located at the registers for $10 and whips (yes! while I didn’t spot them, they were listed in the price list) for $80.  Ready-to-wear pieces are 85% off the original retail price. The sale goes through this Thursday.  According to a sales associate, they will replenish throughout the week but most styles are already out.  My guess is that they’ll restock sizes.  So if you don’t see your size in a style you like, it’s worth asking if they have it in the back.
