Artsy Anna ventured into the Alex & Trixie sample sale in Midtown today where silk dresses and skirts are up to 80 percent off. Here’s what she reports:
Staffers couldn’t be more accommodating at this girlie pink paradise.  Can’t find your size?  They’ll check to see if they have it in the back.  Items run $15 to $60 for past season tops, mini-dresses, belts, and scarves. The best deals and prices are on the vintage  rack.  It’s hard to justify a wool winter dress a few sizes too large on a 95 degree day like today but not when it’s perfect condition Oscar de la Renta for $10, how can you resist?
Short silk dresses that were $275 are now $50, silk tops are $40 (were $220), and silk skirts are $30 (were $142).
Where/When: 265 W. 37th St., nr. Eighth Ave., eleventh fl.; Through 9/2. T–Th (10–7).

oscar de la renta $10?!?! is this for real?
Hi Sally,
I went and checked out the sale yesterday, what’s left of the vintage stuff was very old things that I would not let my mother wear. There was no Oscar left, just one rack of vintage stuff marked at about $10 a piece.
Thanks, Judy for the update. did you end up finding anything?
Its been a lackluster sample sale summer
for me. I’ve been bored and underwhelmed with quality, variety, and discounts since Escada and Derek Lam this past Spring. I thought I was losing my touch until I nabbed this perfect condition puff sleeve number for $10! The dress is Oscar de la Renta for Razook’s–a Greenwich, CT boutique specializing in luxury RTW and couture that closed in 2006 after 87 years in business. My fabulous find is currently at the dry cleaner but willing be making it’s Artsy Anna sartorial debut this fall!
Hey Sally~ Sorry to reply back so late, I was out for the weekend. The sale was just so-so, when I can get other silk dresses for about $15-20 at other sample sales, this was kind of expensive. I didn’t pick up anything, kind of on a ban right now =X
