As I’ve said before in this blog, I’m a big fan of French designer Barbara Bui‘s cool, classic and clean pieces. I’m hooked on her pants (the fit is perfect) and I love her tailored jackets but the four figure price tag is too much for me. So when she holds a sale, I try to make it. For just two days (sale ends Friday), Bui has marked down her spring/summer 2010 collection (including shoes and handbags) 70 percent off the retail price.
When I stopped in late yesterday, the boutique on Wooster Street looked sparse. Some shelves were bare. A staffer told me that a lot of shoppers had already come in throughout the day and picked through the racks. As a result, many of the smaller sizes had been snapped up. A disappointment for me since I spotted a few knit tops ($100), pants ($150+) and tanks ($50) that I really liked. But my size was not available. A pair of ballet flats in metallic blue ($120) also caught my eye. But once again, not available in my size. A few large handbags were left (mostly black for $600) and a couple of small shoulder bags for about $200. There were still a few things on offer such as jackets for $400+, dresses $300+, pants for $150+ and more, including a limited selection of heels and platforms for around $250.
Where/When: 115-117 Wooster St. (b/w Prince & Spring). 212-625-1938. July 29 and 30; (11-7pm).
