Though it be unbearably hot out, sample sale season is cooling off now that summer is here. You won’t find many sample sales this week. One of the few being held is the Privé sample sale at Chelsea Market. I checked out the goods last night and found a mishmash of merchandise for both men and women as well as a very limited selection of home goods.
It looked like overstock from previous sales – items that didn’t sell were now being sold here at a bargain. I spotted racks of Theory tops ($30) and tunics ($70), Rogan tees ($15) and tops ($55), Plenty by Tracy Reese tops ($60) and dresses ($75), Michael Kors tops ($35), sweaters ($45) and jackets ($60), Marc by Marc Jacobs bottoms ($55), 7 for all mankind tops and sweaters ($25), cotton dresses ($30), jackets ($40), Free People tops ($30), dresses ($45) and more. There were also shoes:  Belle by Sigerson Morrison suede flats ($65) and there was one pair of flat boots in a size 61/2 ($99), Michael Kors platforms ($65) and Charles Jordan pumps and sandals ($45). Also on offer were Botkier medium and large handbags at $149 and $199. As for home goods, there were Mario Batali totes ($15), mixing bowl set ($20) and pepper mill ($15). The selection is limited and so is sizing. I found nothing I really liked so I walked out empty handed. A staffer did tell me that they will be restocking with other brands but he said he didn’t know which labels.
