Sample Size Rules at Tocca Sample Sale

I made it to the Tocca Friends & Family sale yesterday.  There was no list so anyone who knew about the preview sale could have gone into the label’s showroom in Chelsea (it’s on the same floor as the Herion showroom).  Today, the sale opens to the public.

While there was plenty of merchandise to be had at 60 to 85 percent off, there didn’t seem to be as much of a selection as previous sample sales.  Let’s start with the frilly feminine frocks since that’s what Tocca is known for… I spotted plenty of fabulous spring/summer dresses.  The only problem:  most of the dresses are sample sizes (that means size 4 or 6).  I found one rack for sizes 0 and 2 and another for sizes 8 and 12.  Dresses on the majority of racks were sample sizes.  I wasn’t really looking for a frock for me this time around.  I wanted to get a cute dress for my niece.  Despite the slim pickings, I managed to score on two darling pieces for her.  I was also on the hunt for candles.  They didn’t have my favorite scent Yma (Peruvian guava fruit combined with red currant) in the large candle ($20) so I settled for the Kyoto scented candle (the fragrance of Kinmokusei flowers).  Small candles were going for $10.

As for the price list:  Dresses and coats are $85; tops/knits $35; skirts $40; pants $25.  Girls dresses are $40; skirts $25; tops/knits $20.  There was an abundance of beauty items (including candles):  Eau de Parfum is $25 or $40; soaps start at $5; lotions were going for $10.  They also had a selection of Tocca lip gloss at the register for $14, which is actually the retail price (no discount there).  Bags are going for $40 but I saw a very limited selection.  Sale ends this Friday.

Where/When: 542 W. 22nd St., b/t Tenth & Eleventh Aves., May 12 to 14 (11:30-7p)
