The slushy streets and sidewalks didn’t stop bargain hunters from trying to find deals at the Barneys Warehouse Sale Saturday morning. The place was already mobbed not even an hour after the doors opened. It was especially crowded in the women’s shoe section where a long line had formed just to have someone pick up the mate to your shoe. The shelves were thinning out and women were desperately trying to find something in their size. It was a shopping frenzy. The additional 50 percent off appeared to be deal enough to entice these women. I stopped in hoping to find additional mark downs. But no further discounts. I snagged the latest discount list. Sale ends Sunday.

Hey Sally: your good posts made me go back but I really couldn’t find anything except a MJ jumpsuit that was still $500 after the discount so I left it there. Things were mostly in bad condition. If you’re looking for a bargain with good quality, I think Eva Gentry Consignment in Brooklyn is a better deal. They just got some sick Louboutins.

Barneyshopper – thanks for the tip. I’ll have to check out Eva Gentry. You’re right about the designer goods at BWS, still too expensive. I saw a black Balenciaga dress yesterday that was still $600 (even after the discount). No thanks! Although, a friend of mine scored on three pairs of shoes yesterday, including a strappy stiletto heel by Balenciaga all for under $400.
Similar to your Marni purchase, went on Friday and got a pair of Balenciaga boots (orig. 900+) for 190.
I spoke to the woman who runs the LA sale and is flown here to assist with the NY sale. She said the reason the LA sale is so short is because the space is 4 times larger and they can fit all of the inventory at once. In NY a lot of merch is waiting to come out.
I was there Saturday and I noticed at the register that there is a lot of merchandise behind a curtain\wall as you exit. Who knows maybe they’ll mark it down today. I won’t be back as a couple of days at this sale is all I can take.
Do you guys think they will do any further midday markdowns today? These prices are the same basically as they were this past thursday.
Deme is right about merchandise behind the curtain. I spoke to a sales associate who said they still had plenty of merchandise to put out. They might mark down further today. They should at least do an xtra 75% off women’s designer.

I was there the other day and they had bags by Prada, Lanvin, Bally, Botkier, YSL, etc. If you saw the same merch and prices at BWS, they would be gone in two seconds. It’s interesting how geography works that way. They also have Rick Owens and Dries Van Noten from when things go on sale from the Eva Gentry store down the street. THey even have a Chanel tweed dress–see the blog. It’s a much more upscale place than your usual consignment place–feels more like a boutique– but the prices are great.
