The slushy streets and sidewalks didn’t stop bargain hunters from trying to find deals at the Barneys Warehouse Sale Saturday morning. The place was already mobbed not even an hour after the doors opened. It was especially crowded in the women’s shoe section where a long line had formed just to [...]
As we approach the final day of the Barneys Warehouse Sale, organizers continue to offer further reductions.  An avid Sample Sally reader braved the snowstorm to check out the sale and contribute these photos. Ladies, women’s designer clothing and denim are now an extra 60 percent off and women’s shoes are now down [...]
If you haven’t stopped into the Barneys Warehouse Sale, you should check it out these last few days. This is when the sale organizers start really slashing the prices. Tonight, I managed to snag a photo of the price list. So far, women’s designer is an extra 50 percent off, men’s designer sportswear [...]
While New York’s Fashion Week is now a memory, I thought I’d share some of the scenes captured on video outside the shows last week, including some playful exchanges between fashion blogger, Bryanboy, and friends outside of the Donna Karan [...]
Clothingline in Midtown is hosting a Theory sample sale this week selling off women’s and men’s actual samples and what sale organizers describe as “slight irregulars.†The headline says it all – damaged goods. Almost every garment I picked up had a hole, rip, torn, or thread pull on [...]
Madison Avenue Spy reported last week that the Filene’s Basement in Chelsea was closing, pointing out that the merchandise was lackluster and that anyone going there would have to invest in the time to dig through the merchandise to find gems. Sample Sally contributor, Artsy Anna, was up to the challenge, stopping in Monday night. Here’s her report:
Everything is an extra 50-90% off, with most in the 60% range. Selection leaves something to be desired but if you’re a hunter, this is a sale you shouldn’t skip. Most of what I saw was designer diffusion, bridge, and ladies’ better sportswear (labels like Michael Michael Kors, Elie Tahari, Liz Claiborne, Jones New York, ABS, BCBG, Kenneth Cole, and Theory). Much of the merchandise is shopworn but there are some deals if you’re patient and savvy. I found a great metallic jacquard skirt for $7.99 and a private label cashmere cardigan for $12. Deals worth considering are Theory cropped cotton pants (I saw sizes 4, 10 and 12) and a few autumn cashmere sweaters and wraps.
One of the upsides to the sale is that you can try on clothes (over your clothing, of course) right on the sales floor. You may have to search out a mirror and share with fellow customers but for anyone who’s been inside a filthy Filene’s Basement dressing room, waiting for mirror time is a sacrifice worth making.
I had planned to check out the Bally sale in Midtown over the weekend. But I couldn’t make it there in time so I stopped in on Monday instead when sale organizers began offering further reductions (30 to 40 percent off the sale price, which was already at 75 percent off [...]
With another week to go, the Barneys Warehouse Sale is offering additional discounts on its sale merchandise. Women’s designer goods are now an extra 40 percent off the sale prices. Accessories are an extra 20 percent off, including all women’s footwear (shoes and boots), men’s sneakers, belts, ties and more. Women’s [...]
The New York-based designer, Jodi Arnold, winter/resort 2010 collection sample sale is definitely worth visiting. Arnold is offering up to 80 percent off her labels which include Mint, Redbird and her eponymous line.
I checked out the goods Thursday evening to find plenty of merchandise. I spotted Arnold’s signature embellished pieces dresses are $125. Examples include the Beading Medley dress (was $396), the Chain Fringe dress (was $418) and the Explosion Waist Tuck dress (was $436). Embellished tops are $75 such as the Leather Sequins Tucked top (was $198). So-called plain dresses are $99. I ran into Fellow blogger Radshopping.com (who loves to collect dresses). She bought a couple of Arnold’s dresses for $99 – one had a great cowl back (was $396) and an asymmetrical shoulder cocktail dress (was $385). The sizes run from 0 to 10.
For $65, you can find Mint and Redbird sweaters in grey and black. I really liked the Redbird shawl vest with cowl neck.   Unfortunately, they ran out of small sizes in that style, only mediums and larges were available. Also gone are the leather pieces (jackets for $150 and leggings for $50) that Racked mentioned on Thursday. They sold out the first day. But there’s still lots of deals to be had.
